Accessibility and Inclusivity Information

 

As the organising team, we strive to make LCOY UK as accessible, welcoming and inclusive as possible. Therefore we have created this information document so that people have all the information about accessibility and other useful pointers about the venue in one place. Manchester Metropolitan University Students’ Union Facilities 

 

Door opening pads: Main entrance and fire doors to accessible fire refuge space fitted with accessible door opening pad.

 

Bathrooms: Gendered stall bathrooms and gender neutral fully accessible toilets are available on all floors. Please use the facility which is most suitable for your requirements.

 

Hearing loops: To access the hearing loops at Manchester Metropolitan University Students’ Union please set your hearing aid to the T position. The Main Hall has a permanent hearing loop in place. A small amount of lightweight portable lanyard devices which create an individual hearing loop are available at the Reception, with a technician available for any questions. If you do require a hearing loop please contact the LCOY team at lcoyuk2019@gmail.com so we can reserve you a device.

 

Entrance: Main Entrance is an automatic entrance door and has accessible door opening pads on the outside and inside for exiting the building. The automatic door is located to the left of the rotating entrance door from outside for entrance into the building.

Ground Floor

​

  • 3 accessible toilets (gender neutral), accessed through the Reception, Main Hall and Cafe

  • 2 sets of stall bathrooms (gendered) located from Reception and Main Hall

  • Accessible reception desk on the right of the Reception

  • Hearing loop available at Reception at desk

  • Hearing loop available at Main Hall workshop

  • Lift to all floors accessed through Reception, to the right of the stairs

 

1st Floor

​

  • 2 accessible toilets, accessed between rooms 1.18 and 1.17 and along corridor parallel to reception

  • 1 set of stall bathrooms (gendered) located along corridor parallel to Reception

  • Lift to all floors accessed from the centre of the floor, next to the main centre stairs

 

2nd Floor 

​

  • 2 accessible toilets, located opposite room 2.16 

  • 1 set of stall bathrooms (gendered) located opposite room 2.16

  • Lift to all floors accessed from the centre of the floor, next to the main centre stairs

 

3rd Floor

​

  • 1 accessible toilets, positioned opposite room 3.13

  • 1 set of stall bathrooms (gendered) located opposite room 3.12 and 3.13

  • Lift to all floors accessed from the centre of the floor, next to the main centre stairs

 

Wellbeing Room

​

Our wellbeing room will be open and attended by 2 members of LCOY staff (identifiable by LCOY branded T-Shirts) throughout the conference. This space will be a quiet space where attendees can talk to LCOY staff or take a step back from the conference space. If at any point you find this space unattended or locked please seek a member of LCOY staff for support.

 

Safeguarding

​

4 members of LCOY staff will be designated safeguarding officers for the event. These officers will be recognisable by a green label saying “Safeguarding”  displayed on their LCOY branded t-shirts. A member of the safeguarding team will be posted at the registration desk located in the reception throughout the duration of the conference. Please contact a safeguarding officer directly or a LCOY staff member with any issues you wish to raise to the safeguarding team. Prayer Room

​

Throughout the duration of the conference a prayer space will be available at Manchester Metropolitan University Students Union and will be signposted on the day for your convenience.
